The Voice of Truth

Oh,what I would do to have
the kind of faith it takes
To climb out of this boat I'm in
Onto the crashing waves
To step out of my comfort zone
Into the realm of the unknown
Where Jesus is,
And he's holding out his hand

But the waves are calling out my name
and they laugh at me
Reminding me of all the times
I've tried before and failed
The waves they keep on telling me
time and time again
"Boy, you'll never win,
you'll never win."

But the Voice of truth tells me a different story
the Voice of truth says "do not be afraid!"
and the Voice of truth says "this is for My glory"
Out of all the voices calling out to me
I will choose to listen and believe the Voice of truth

These are some of the lyrics to one of my favorite songs, The Voice of Truth, By Casting Crowns. What speaks to me in this song is you are trying to get up the courage to do something bold and the world laughs at you and says you can never do it. But in the chorus it is saying that the the voice of truth tells me a different story and it says do not be afraid and we have to choose out of all the voices calling out to us to listen to the right voice, the voice of God.

So you see whenever the voices of the world call out to you and say you cant do some thing block out those voices and listen to the voice of truth.

My Heroes

Heroes we all have them - like Superman for little kids or an athlete or family members. Mine are Corrie Ten Boom, and Elisabeth Eliot. These women are my heroes because they both show the true meaning of forgiveness.

Corrie Ten Boom was a christian born on April 15, 1892 in Holland. During World War II her father wanted to help the Jews who were losing jobs because Hitler wanted them dead. So she and her family hid them in their house until they were caught and taken to a concentration camp were her father and sister both died. When she was released she went and started preaching God's word. After she finished preaching one day, a man came up to her and said "I am one of the guards who beat you and your family. I have accepted Christ and now I beg for your forgiveness." Corrie thought about this. How could she forgive a man who had beaten her and her family and refused to help her sister when she was ill. But God spoke to her and said "forgive him" so she did.

Elisabeth Eliot was the wife of Jim Eliot who was a missionary. He went on a trip to preach to the Auca Indians. But one morning, the Aucas attacked them and killed them with their spears. Even though the missionaries had guns and could have defended themselves, they refused to shoot at them and let the Aucas kill them. When the wives of the men including Elisabeth (or Betty) heard about what had happened, they were heart broken. But Elisabeth was like her husband and wanted to share the Word with the Aucas. So the wives of all the men went into the village of the Auca's and started telling them about Jesus through an interpreter. Then the Aucas asked them why they were so nice to them after they had killed their husband and Elisabeth said "God has forgiven us so we forgive you."

So you see why these are my heroes. They show true forgiveness. So next time your sibling hurts you or a friend turns around and stabs you in the back or hurts you, remember that these are small things compared to what Corrie Ten Boom, and Elisabeth Eliot had to go through.

Could It Be Jesus?

31 "But when the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the angels with Him, then He will sit on His glorious throne. 32 "All the nations will be gathered before Him; and He will separate them from one another, as the shepherd separates the sheep from the goats; 33 and He will put the sheep on His right, and the goats on the left.

34 "Then the King will say to those on His right, 'Come, you who are blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. 35 'For I was hungry, and you gave Mesomething to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in; 36 naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me.' 37 "Then the righteous will answer Him, 'Lord, when did we see You hungry, and feed You, or thirsty, and give You something to drink? 38 'And when did we see You a stranger, and invite You in, or naked, and clothe You? 39 'When did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?' 40 "The King will answer and say to them, 'Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.'
41 "Then He will also say to those on His left, 'Depart from Me, accursed ones, into the eternal fire which has been prepared for the devil and his angels; 42 for I was hungry, and you gave Me nothing to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me nothing to drink; 43 I was a stranger, and you did not invite Me in; naked, and you did not clothe Me; sick, and in prison, and you did not visit Me.' 44 "Then they themselves also will answer, 'Lord, when did we see You hungry, or thirsty, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not take care of You?' 45 "Then He will answer them, 'Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.' 46 "These will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life."

Lately I have been studying this verse. I love these verses because they remind us how we need to care about the people that are less fortunate than us. There is a song by Monk and Niegal that relates a lot to this verse. It's called "21st Time". Here are some of the words:

Nowhere to live nowhere fall

He used to have money but he's wasted it all

His face is photgraph burend in my mind

But I pretend not to see him for the Twenty-First time

He sleeps under stars thats all he can afored

His blanket's an old coat he's had since the war

He stands on the corner of carter and vine

But I pretend not to she him for the Twenty-First time

He may be a drifter he's grown and grey

But what if it's Jesus nd i walk away

I say I'm the body and drink of the wine

But I pretend not to see him for the Twenty-First time

I hope you see now that just like this song and these verses, we need to take care of the homeless and the people less fortante than we are because when we serve these people, we are serving Jesus.
